Aquanaut!

Stop.
Breathe; breathe; breathe; go.

Throw your arms out to keep your head from hitting.
Straight up and down; kick your feet up and over your head.
Tuck your knees in, curl them towards your chest.
Let gravity take over.
Pick up your hands, rotate them a whole circle.
Feel your stomach breach the water; arch your back.
Spin; spin; spin; stop.

Hold your head back, unclench your jaw, open your eyes as you come up for air.

Wait.
Wait for your lungs to realize that you can breathe again.
Wait for your head to stop spinning.
Wait for your eyes to readjust.
Wait.

Breathe; breathe; breathe; GO!

(I taught myself to do underwater somersaults yesterday. Forward and back. :D Let's go swimming.)

OMG! Samantha! I love this poem, it's wonderful. Although, I can't believe you didn't know how to do backwards and forward somersaults underwater. Let's go swimming again soon! :D

Before I leave for camp, Sam? Let's go swimming. Soon. Not, I guess, until Friday. But let's go swimming.
